Dr. Sánchez-Recalde is the Director of the Interventional Cardiology Unit at University Hospital Ramón y Cajal in Madrid, Spain, a position he has held since 2019. He also serves as Director of the Interventional Cardiology Units at Sanitas Zarzuela and Moraleja Hospitals since 2014.
He completed his medical internship in the Cardiology Department of La Paz University Hospital (Spain) and at St George’s University Hospital (UK), followed by a dedicated fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at La Paz University Hospital (2003–2004). From 2004 to 2018, he was part of the Interventional Cardiology Unit at La Paz, where he also served as Director of the Adult Congenital Heart Disease Unit.
His main clinical and research interests focus on structural and congenital heart interventions, including mitral and tricuspid valve therapies, transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), paravalvular leak (PVL) closure, and complex congenital heart procedures.
Dr. Sánchez-Recalde has authored over 200 publications in peer-reviewed journals and has received more than 25 awards for best scientific work presented at national and international meetings.
