Dr. Briedis is the Head of Structural Heart Interventions at the Hospital of the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences Kaunas Clinics. In 2018, he was awarded a 12-month Fellowship Grant for Training in Structural Heart Interventions from the European Association of Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions (EAPCI). He was trained in structural heart interventions at the Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital (Liverpool, UK), Humanitas Research Hospital (Milan, Italy), and Luzerner Kantonsspital (Lucerne, Switzerland).In 2020, Dr. Briedis was awarded 6 scholarships from the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), the European Heart Academy, the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports of the Republic of Lithuania, the Lithuanian Education Exchanges Support Foundation, the Marius Jakulis Jason Foundation, and the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences for the Executive MSc studies in Health Economics, Outcomes and Management in Cardiovascular Sciences, and he gained his second MSc degree in Health Economics and Management in 2022.Dr. Briedis is an Associate Professor, Co-Director of the 6-year Cardiology Residency Programme, and a PhD graduate at the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences with a research focus on the first-in-human heart valve interventions and new technologies for structural heart diseases. He is also a Clinical Proctor, Consultant, Educational Trainer and Advisory Board member for many world-renowned medical companies. Dr. Briedis is involved in numerous multicenter clinical trials, has presented and published over 80 research projects in international scientific oral communications and peer-reviewed medical journals. He is also an elected Member of the European Society of Cardiology EAPCI Congress Committee for the 2024-2026 term.
