He is an experienced specialist in catheter-based cardiovascular therapies, with a strong focus on structural heart interventions including transcatheter valve repair and replacement.
Dr. Van der Heyden has contributed extensively to clinical research and innovation in interventional cardiology, including work on transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), mitral and tricuspid valve therapies, and complex coronary and carotid interventions. He has been involved in pioneering procedures in Europe, such as early adoption of MitraClip therapies and first-in-human or first-in-region catheter-based valve technologies.
