Alejandro Diego Nieto MD, PhD.

I studied Medicine at University of Salamanca and completed Cardiology specialization at the University Hospital of León. As a basic and translational researcher I spent a short-term in the Cardiovascular Institute at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York; afterwards, I gained considerable experience in the developing of animal models for cardiovascular diseases at the Health Research Foundation and Veterinary Faculty of León.

In the clinical field, I soon focused my interests in intravascular thrombosis and coronary percutaneous interventions during myocardial infarction, and nowadays I direct the High-Risk Coronary Percutaneous Interventions and Cardiogenic Shock Unit in the Department of Cardiology of the University Hospital of Salamanca.
